August 2025 marks MING’s 8th birthday.
The brand has delivered more than:
- 15,000 watches
- 8,000 collectors and friends
- 75+ references
- 3 design languages
- 2 GPHG awards
Now comes a watch that defines the next chapter: the MING 57.04 Iris.
The Fifth Generation of Design
MING’s design journey has taken many shapes:
- First generation – experimental, finding direction.
- Second generation – maximalist with ornate hollow flying blade lugs.
- Third generation – clean monobloc cases with subtle ribbon surfacing.
- Fourth generation – skipped, a nod to Asian superstitions.
- Fifth generation – modern Art Deco, sculptural, bold, and unapologetic.
The new stepped lugs have nine separate pieces, creating a nested effect. Polished tops meet satin-brushed sides, giving the watch strong definition.
Case and Proportions
- Stainless steel case
- 40mm diameter, carefully balanced
- 47.8mm lug-to-lug for comfort
- Alternating polished and brushed facets
- 100m water resistance
- Night-time legibility with laser-cut indices filled with MING Polar White lume
This watch looks powerful on the wrist but stays wearable for everyday use.
The Movement: Destro Monopusher
The 57.04 Iris features a monopusher chronograph – MING’s favorite complication.
- Powered by the Sellita for MING Cal. SW562.M1
- Developed in partnership with Sellita
- Hand-winding movement
- Central seconds with a 30-minute counter at 6 o’clock
- Destro design allows for a large crown and pusher on the left side
- 4N coated sculptural three-quarter plate contrasting with anthracite finish
This configuration makes winding and timing tactile, precise, and practical.
The Dial: Why “Iris”?
The dial is what makes the watch unforgettable.
- Deeply dished and fluted structure
- Floating indices on the crystal
- Unique sandwich-style minute counter disc filled with luminous material
- Multiphasic coated brass base that shifts color
The result is a dial that moves between turquoise, purple, and every blue in between.
Like the iris of an eye, it’s constantly shifting, alive, and engaging.
A Collector’s Question
If you already own earlier MING references, how does the Iris fit into your collection?
It’s the first destro, the first monopusher, and the debut of the new 5th-generation language.
It’s not just a watch – it’s a milestone.
